A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol read by Mr Charles Dickens
A Christmas Carol was the first public performance that Charles Dickens gave of his work and it was also his last. He performed it more than 150 times and the effect on the public was phenomenal. “The success was most wonderful and prodigious – perfectly overwhelming and astounding altogether!” he said after the first night.
This Christmas you can experience what it must have been like to be in the audience! The European Arts Company is faithfully recreating Dickens’ famous performance of his best-loved and most heart-warming story. And £1 from each ticket sold will go to the children’s charity Barnardo’s. Come and enjoy a seasonal treat in the spirit of Christmas past, present and future.
Performed by John O’Connor and directed by Peter Craze.
“I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to everybody! A Happy New Year to all the world!”
