Burden of Paradise 3 returns to Ropery Hall
Returning to Ropery Hall later this month are three highly acclaimed musicians who now make up Burden of Paradise.
Led by sax maestro Snake Davis and also featuring Helen Watson and David Bowie junior, Burden of Paradise 3 is a band that invites its audience into a world of tenderness, virtuosity and human frailty.
Appearing at the Maltkin Road venue in Barton upon Humber on Friday, January 20, the band will be playing an eclectic mix of soul, pop, folk and jazz.
Formed more than 10 years ago Burden of Paradise plays unique interpretations of evocative songs from the likes of Dylan to Billie Holiday.
Liz Bennet of The Ropewalk cannot wait for what seems to be an annual appearance at Ropery Hall.
“The group features vocals, a pulsing engine room of double bass and of course the wonderful saxophone sounds of Snake Davis,” she said.
“Lovers of their music ask exactly what is the Burden Of Paradise’s secret?” Liz went on. “Personally I think it must be a stylish blend of precisely 47 per cent blues and 35 per cent folk with a twist of 18 per cent jazz.”
Tickets to see Burden of Paradise cost £13 in advance or £15 on the door. They can be bought online at www.roperyhall.co.uk, in person at The Ropewalk’s Craft Gallery or by calling 01652 660380.
